Applying for CA.

Letter of intention
Hi! my name is Louise Emilie Hovgård. I am 20 years old, and I would very much like to apply for the Bachelor Programme in Character Animation.
This is my second time applying and I have worked hard to improve on the mistakes I made in last year's portolio.
I graduated my STX-exams in summer 2011 and in January 2012 I moved to Viborg and took the TDA course to improve my understanding of the human body. Artem was my teacher and not only did I learn a lot, but I also got to know some very nice people. I now live with 4 girls from my class and I am very happy to do so because we inspire each other so much. In Fall I attended the Media School where I learned the basics of Adobe Photoshop, Flash and After Effects.

I just love living here in Viborg around the school. The people and the surroundings are so inspirational and I feel so motivated and much closer to my biggest dream; to become an animator.
Ever since I was in kindergarten I have known that I want to work with drawing. I remember sitting with the kindergarten teachers and drawing bears, princesses and pirates for the other kids to color.
Since I heard of this school I have focused on only this.

My biggest inspirations of all time are the animation movies from Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Don Bluth, and many others. Balto from Universal has always been my favourite film.
I have also gotten inspiration from games such as Spyro and Pokémon.
My all time favourites:
Disney: The Lion King, Bernard & Bianca 1 + 2.
Dreamworks: Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron, El Dorado, Shrek 1 + 2.
Don Bluth: The Land Before Time, Thumbelina, An American Tail.

My fascination has always been directed at the characters, the characters body language and their stories especially, but mostly, I appreciate the many aspects of an animation film like scenery, storytelling, music and so on. Every time I watch the credits of a film I am fascinated. The fact that so many people work on different things to create one big piece of art amazes me and I really wish to be part of that one day.

At the moment I am mostly inspired by the game Team Fortress 2 from Valve and the webcomic Homestuck by Andrew Hussie, which you can see in my freestyle section. The characters in these are more weird and flawed than the "usual" film heroes, but that's what I love about them!

My hopes and ambitions for my future work are mostly leaned towards animation film or series production, but I am also curious to learn and work with many different things like commercials or games. All in all I would be happy to work with anything animation-related.
I really hope I will become a student at The Animation Workshop and be able to
fulfill my dream of becoming an animator.

Sincerely,  Louise Emilie Hovgård.
